Bad weather arrangement

If Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 or the above and/or Rainstorm "BLACK" warning is hoisted at 6:00 a.m., all a.m. examination sessions on that day will be cancelled. All p.m. examination sessions will be cancelled when the warning is hoisted at 11:30 a.m. on that day. Candidates should approach the Seafarers' Certification Section to make a new appointment for examinations as soon as possible. (Tel. No.: 2852 4941 Fax No.: 2541 6754)

Absence from an exam

If a candidate fails to appear punctually for the exam at the time, on the date, and at the place specified in the exam receipt:

1. He will be regarded as having failed the exam;

2. He will need to pay an exam fee to rebook an exam. His next appointment will be arranged to the last appointment date of his specific exam type and no reschedule will be allowed.

The above arrangement for rebooking exam also applies to candidate who has absent from either Part A / Part B exam.

Reschedule exam

1. A candidate may reschedule his exam by written notice that must be received by Marine Department at least 10 working days before his exam.

2. Exam can only be rescheduled once.

Saturday, Sunday and public holidays are not counted for working days. Also, Marine Department usually takes 2 working days to handle reschedule. If you want to postpone your exam, please submit the completed reschedule form to Marine Department or re-schedule at Marine Department Website at least 10 working days before your exam, otherwise Marine Department will not be able to handle it before the deadline.
